SKN TO SKN is The Pregnancy Beauty Routine I Didn't Know I Needed

If you’ve ever frantically googled “best pregnancy skincare” at 11pm with a breakout brewing and zero clue what’s safe — hi, I’ve been there. That was me, round two of pregnancy, toddler on one hip… until I found SKN TO SKN. Here’s what happened when I gave it a go.

Let's start with: what is SKN TO SKN?

SKN TO SKN is the first skincare brand developed specifically for pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding — created by a mum who knew first-hand how confusing (and neglected) this life stage can feel. Every product — from moisturiser to cleanser — is science-backed and designed to make women feel seen, safe, and supported in every trimester.

What makes this beauty brand different from other skincare brands?

It’s the first expert-led range made specifically for women navigating fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum — a time when skin is often sensitive, reactive, and unpredictable.

Other skincare brands may work for “most” skin types. But SKN TO SKN isn’t made for most. It’s made for you, in this very specific moment.

But how?

Each product in the range has been through more checks than your hospital bag at 39 weeks — think dermatologist checks, patch tests for sensitive skin, and SPF trials that cover everything from UVA to blue light. And unlike most brands, it’s trialled exclusively on women. There’s even a medical advisory board of doctors helping shape every formula to support real pregnancy skin, not just generic promises.

Here's why I swapped my normal beauty routine for SKN TO SKN products

I’m 37, and normally have oily skin with zero breakouts — until pregnancy.

So when I started breaking out, getting dry patches and just feeling dull, I knew I had to switch things up.

A study by the NIH recently confirmed that 90% of pregnant women experience significant skin changes that can impact wellbeing. So it’s not just me — and probably not just you either.

But let’s be honest: between toddler bedtime and pregnancy exhaustion, my skincare routine was barely surviving.

That’s when I decided to try the 4-step SKN TO SKN range.

Balancing Act Cleanser

Multi-Tasking Face Serum

Glow & Go Daily Moisturiser with SPF 30

Sleep Cheat Night Cream

And I’ll be real — I was nervous. A “4-step routine” sounded like a luxury I didn’t have time for. Honestly, in pregnancy with a toddler to look after too, my “self care” has been lacking.

But I started small, and here’s how it went...

First Impressions & Real Routine

Let’s start with the packaging. No baby pink. No "mum" labels. Just clean, slick design that doesn’t scream “you’ve lost your identity now you’re pregnant.”

Step 1: Cleanse

My first day using the new products I get in the shower for what I call a “body shower” (not a hair wash day, a get-in-and-out at the speed of light shower.)

After speedily throwing shower gel all over, I lather a dollop of Balancing Act Cleanser over my face

It goes on silky, needs no extras (no cloths, no double cleansing), and rinses off easily.

It’s fragrance-free — which took me a second to adjust to — but it makes total sense. My skin feels clean and hydrated, not tight and dry like with previous cleansers.

So far, so easy.

Step 2: The Serum I Almost Skipped

I’ll be honest — I nearly didn’t buy the SKN TO SKN Multi-Tasking Face Serum. Serums always felt like the skincare equivalent of taking the scenic route: nice in theory, but who has time for that?

But since I was committed to following the pregnancy routine recommended by the brand (maximum results, obviously), I dutifully pumped it into my hands and smoothed it over my face. **Fingers crossed for the collagen boost, fine line fade, and elusive glow it promises — all without any pregnancy no-gos like retinol (it uses a clever plant-based alternative instead).

Step 3: The Tinted Moisturiser That Changed My Mornings

The Glow & Go Daily Moisturiser is total and utter convenience in a bottle.

It’s a multitasking dream: a moisturiser, SPF, and light-coverage tint in one.

I chose the deeper of the two shades (there are only two for now — fingers crossed for more), and while it looked dark out of the bottle, it blended like a dream.

Within seconds, my skin looked even, dewy, and alive — like I’d slept a full eight hours (I hadn’t) and wasn’t 32 weeks pregnant (I was).

It also skips that heavy, sticky feel a lot of pregnancy-safe SPFs have. I now wear this in place of foundation every day, and the fact I can apply it one-handed while holding a toddler is just… chef’s kiss.

Step 4: The Night Cream That Feels Like a Spa

After a day of work, a nursery pick up, toddler’s bath and bedtime, making and eating my dinner and watching an episode of Emily in Paris, it’s way past my pregnant bedtime (at approximately 9:05pm). Leaving me approximately five minutes to get ready for bed, including doing my pregnancy beauty routine.

Luckily for me, I'd been wearing virtually no makeup (thanks Glow & Go), so a quick splash of water and cleanse and I was ready to round off my 4-step beauty routine with the final product – SKN TO SKN Sleep Cheat Night Cream.

Thick but not greasy, and subtly scented in a way that says “treat yourself” not “smells like your baby’s shampoo”, this cream has become a non-negotiable part of my bedtime wind-down.

It’s packed with barrier-repairing ingredients and hydrators, which my skin desperately needed. Instead of waking up dry and dull, my skin feels silky and healthy.

So was the 4-step SKN to SKN beauty routine worth it?

Absolutely — especially if your pregnancy or postpartum skin has taken you by surprise.

The tinted moisturiser is my hero product and worth the price tag alone. The night cream comes a close second and feels like a moment of self-care I didn’t know I needed. And while I don’t always use the cleanser and serum every day (mum life), when I do, I genuinely notice the difference.

I’ve spent a lot more money than this on creams and cleansers before - and, seeing as these are basically customised to my current life stage, and concerning the research behind them, I’d actually expect to pay more.

Final Verdict

If you're pregnant or postpartum — and, like me, don’t know much about beauty but do know your skin’s changing — this is a simple, effective routine that helps you feel nourished from the outside in.

I’ve already bought the tinted moisturiser as a gift for a new-mum friend. Babies get spoiled with loads of presents — this one’s for the person doing all the hard work.

FAQS

Is SKN TO SKN safe to use during pregnancy?

Yes. Every formula is specifically made for pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding. They’re developed with dermatologists and checked by a doctor-led medical advisory board, so you can feel confident you’re using products that are safe and effective.

What ingredients are used instead of retinol?

Instead of retinol (which isn’t recommended in pregnancy) – you can read our full pregnancy safe skincare guide for a deep dive – SKN TO SKN uses plant-based alternatives like Bakuchiol, which offers similar benefits — think fine line reduction and improved skin texture — without the risks.

Can I use SKN TO SKN while breastfeeding?

Absolutely. All formulas are designed with the entire motherhood journey in mind — from bump to breastfeeding. There are no hormone-disrupting ingredients or nasties to worry about

Do I need the whole routine or can I try just one product?

You don’t have to go all in. Many mums start with one product (like the moisturiser or serum) and build from there. But the routine is designed to work best together — especially if your skin is changing fast and you want consistent support.

What does it smell like?

In a good way — not much. The products are very lightly scented (or fragrance-free), with comfort and sensitivity in mind.

Is it worth the money?

If you’re looking for skincare that’s actually designed for pregnancy and motherhood — not just rebranded off-the-shelf products — this is it. It feels luxurious, it works hard, and it gives a moment of care back to the person doing all the work.
