Labour wards are famously hot, and a decent fan is near the top of every hospital bag checklist — birth partners are usually the ones holding it. It's also invaluable through a third-trimester summer, when nothing else helps.
Afterwards it carries on earning its place for night sweats, feeding on warm evenings and buggy walks in the sun.
Charge fully before packing. Keep away from little fingers and long hair. A small, practical addition to a hospital bag or a pregnancy gift bundle.
